Digitizing the Jacobs Collection

The Melville Jacobs Collection out of the University of Washington is one of the greatest repositories of cultural patrimony the Coquille Tribe can access.  Within lies most of the stories, ethnographies, and studies of our culture, language, geography, medicines, society, and way of life as they existed at the time of contact.

This effort to digitize these works will make available for the first time, the ability to:
                • search using modern search engine technology
                • make available online
                • provide these materials in a way that can be analyzed by computer
                • allow for contributions to the materials in ways not yet fathomed
